OSJ is looking at our annual meetups in Hartford, Hamden, and Danbury, mid-October through mid-November. Dates are being finalized now.
Our fundraising campaign is ending September 8.
This gives you one last opportunity to make your contribution to help you, your family, and approximately 4800 other CT residents mandated to register.
A Story about a Legislator and a Nickel
I have a vision; 100 individuals and families meeting with their legislators to describe the pain and suffering of the public Registry ahead of the 2026 Legislative Session. This can be done in person, via Zoom, or OSJ has had great success holding a Zoom meeting with a legislator and ~5-9 individuals, including their families, telling their story.
Our bill to reduce negative outcomes for late address verification letters will be re-introduced in 2026. Coincidentally, yesterday I received a call from a legislator who is also a criminal defense lawyer. They said, "you are going to tell me I should have listened to you." A new client has been charged with a felony for late address verification letters. A fellow with a conviction from 2016 who has lived a good life. This places a razor focus on how wrong the current law is. OSJ is raising awareness statewide. I also got to go to court recently for another late letter arrest. The judge threw it out!
In addition, in 2026 we will ramp up our proposal for probation reduction and early termination. We will continue to get people off the Registry one at a time whenever the opportunity presents itself, and through the OSJ Pardon Program.
Then there’s the big one; Registry reform.
A nonprofit like ours does not get State or Federal funds. Grant money? No!
To keep OSJ healthy and moving forward, we must be sustained with donations and helping hands (volunteers). Your help makes a difficult job a little easier.
Every $5.00 donated will enable OSJ to mail another 7-10 letters. The more people we reach, the greater pressure we can bring to bear on legislators through their constituents.
So, while the subject line says "nickel" I really mean $5.00 or more 😉
Before I close, I want to thank the two gentlemen who represented OSJ with me at the Fatherhood Conference: The Power of Presence. For the first time, OSJ was a sponsor of this conference, and hopes to do so for many years to come. That's how we get the job done!

For every $500 donated OSJ can add another 500 families or more. CT has nearly 5,000 residents on the public registry.
If you have previously met us virtually or in person you know we are the trusted statewide resource fighting for fair and equitable laws and public policies in CT, providing much needed education to the community at large, and litigating for the greater good when an opportunity presents itself.
As President of OSJ, I’d like to personally thank you again for the donations made to us throughout the year and remind you, WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP.
