The executive director of Connecticut's One Standard of Justice, just returned from the NARSOL Atlanta conference, reports reconnecting with the national community and in particular the advocates who were there for her at the beginning of her journey. Seeing many familiar faces of connections that were made almost ten years ago and are still in the fight was priceless.
Our Fearless support group continues to meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 8:00 PM EST; all people on the registry anywhere and their loved ones are welcome to join us. Register here: OneStandardOfJustice.org/Fearless
OSJ's legislative work continues as language and research is completed over the summer to support our 2025 proposals to three bills: to decriminalize late address verification letters and homelessness, to provide judicial review for early termination of probation, and to remove those people who were unlawfully placed on the registry between 1988-1998. There have been many arrests recently for late verification letters; we encourage people to connect with us. We have had success with being on the right side of this. The search is on for plaintiffs for our next child safety ordinance case. OSJ's pardon program has taken off and will expand in 2025. Thanks to our community who continues to show grace and generosity in helping others who aren't in a position to help themselves, OSJ is able to provide the program to the less advantaged but equally deserving and eligible. Please donate to the OSJ pardon program; every dollar goes to helping one more person get relieved of their criminal history and removed from the registry: Secure.OneStandardOfJustice.org/Pardon-Program-Donation/
